1 More than 92 percent of Americans have BPA in their urine and the
chemical has been linked breast cancer, obesity, attention deficit
disorder and genital abnormalities in boys and girls.

2 The BPA is from the interior coating used in cans.

3 Scientists working for industry are likely to find BPA innocuous,
while the vast majority of independent scientists are increasingly
concerned about exposure to the chemical.

4 Last year Canada became the first country to conclude that BPA can
be hazardous to humans.

5 The Food and Drug Administration has relied largely on industry
studies.

題名: Is the Exercise Cool-Down Really Necessary?

記者: By GINA KOLATA

発行日: October 15, 2009

URL: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/15/health/nutrition/15best.html
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

【Answers to Content Questions/内容についての質問の正解】
1 When about a mile from their house they sprint to see who can reach
home first.

2 Cool-down is to keep moving for a few minutes after you finish a
strenuous exercise rather than stopping abruptly.

3 Some say it alleviates muscle soreness and others say it prevents
muscle tightness or relieves strain on the heart.

4 If you suddenly stop exercising your heart slows down and the blood
can pool in your legs and feet causing you to feel dizzy and possibly
fainting.

5 The idea of the cool-down seems to have originated with a popular
theory --now known to be wrong--that muscles become sore after
exercise because they accumulate lactic acid.

1 The average guest throws away 2 pounds of garbage every day and only
40% of hotels have some sort of recycling program.

2 Younger guests are often more concerned about recycling.

3 By removing paper, plastic and other recyclables from the garbage,
hotels can trim their waste disposal bill by as much as 50 percent.

4 "Single stream" recycling refers to municipalities with recycling
centers that can automatically separate paper, plastic, aluminum
and glass.

5 Marriott International no longer delivers newspapers to every
guestroom in the morning; guests can request a paper or pick one
up in the lobby.
